Is Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Worth Buying?

Xiaomi has launched its latest smartphone (or you could say phablet) in China. We can expect the device to be launched in India soon. The launch of Google Pixel, iPhone 7, and Oneplus 3 is less likely to affect Mi Note 2 as it can be segmented as a phablet, and at the same time, it’s a lot cheaper than Pixel or iPhone.

Well, to decide if Mi Note 2 is the right choice, you must first choose the preferred size. It’s a 5.7-inch phone which can only be compared with bigger smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Note 7. So if you’re really into ‘phablets’, we can look into the specifications and quick notes on Xiaomi Mi Note 2.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 looks similar to Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The dual curved screen of Mi Note 2 looks fabulous, with the curved back which reminds me of Galaxy Note 7. However, the device doesn’t feel much big in hands compared to Google Pixels, thanks to the curves with a closely packed metal frame. This gives the smartphone a sleek and premium appearance. Screen to body ratio of Mi Note 2 is better than that of Apple iPhone 7 plus.

The OLED display of Xiaomi Mi Note 2 can save battery compared to AMOLEd displays. The full HD device runs on Xiaomi’s official skin MIUI 8, based on Android Marshmallow. The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 6 GB of RAM can results in flawless, optimal performance. The device is available in two variants – 64 GB storage with 4 GB RAM or 128 GB storage with 6 GB RAM.

The camera is expected to perform well in daylight as well as low-light situations as it comes with a f/2.0 wide aperture and has a resolution of 22.5 MP, which is far greater than Google Pixel or iPhone 7. But yes, megapixel count is not the only factor that contributes camera quality. The front facing camera is of 8 MP with an aperture of f/2.0.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has a fat battery of size 4070mAh, which supports Quick Charge version 3. The device is also dual sim, unlike the Google Pixel or the iPhone 7. The device is expected to be priced at around 28000 – 35000 rupees.
